How to remove System Security
Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008 at 6:02 amSystem Security description
System Security is distributed by trojans but the creators of this program claim that SystemSecurity is an antispyware+antivirus suite. Do not trust programs that appear on your computer without your consent.

System Security generates enormous amounts of pop-ups asking user to pay for using the program. There is actually nothing to pay for since SystemSecurity is only capable of loading pop-ups and hijacking web browser. System Security may considerably limit internet connection and computer’s performance.
Here’s one of the most common alerts loaded by SystemSecurity:

“WARNING!
Application cannot be executed. The file UdapterUI.exe is infected.
Please activate your antivirus software.”
There are two new variants of System Security fraud:

How to manually remove System Security
To remove System Security spyware you must block System Security sites, stop and remove processes, unregister DLL files, search and delete all other System Security files and registry utility. Follow the System Security detection and removal instructions below.
The most typical software removal method is to remove System Security by using "Add or Remove Programs" service. However there may be hidden System Security files, running processes and registries in your computer, so System Security may recreate all other files after reboot.

I am unable to locate system security in the add remove programs or any other place. I have searched for it on my computer to no avail. I’ts a terrible program that continuously flashes screens. I wish I could get rid of it.

System Security is not on the add/remove programs list because it is not a regular program. I recommended following the manual removal guide step by step. The removal tutorial is above comments section.

I was also unable to locate system security in add/remove I also found that the programme didn’t load or work correctly from the start.

I’m sure your task Manager is not infected. It’s just another fake alert loaded by ‘System Security’ to scare you. Boot you computer in a safe mode and then go through the manual removal once again. Most of malicious processes are inactive in a safe mode so you should be able to delete SystemSecurity thing.

I tried all of this in safe mode and everything and i even tried to restore to an earlier date and yet it is still on there i have been messing around with this for 2 days now and still cant get it off it overrides avg and everything else when i delete everthing that i can find about it in safe mode it is still there i cant find any numbered folders in any of the folders mentioned above. please help this is so frustrating.
Luciana Reply:

System Security shouldn’t block your security programs once you end its processes using Task Manager. I strongly recommend installing some kind of anti-spyware because AVG is anti-virus and it’s not supposed to deal with threats like System Security.

I have this virus but I am unable to run any scans to delete it and it’s not coming up in the search. How can i get rid of it?

You can follow the manual removal guide provided above. It’s equally effective as the anti-spyware scan. Just make sure to delete all the malicious files.

Luciana Reply:

To boot in the Safe mode, restart your computer and as soon as it starts to boot up start pressing the F8 key. You’ll see a list of options to start a PC in a safe mode or in a normal mode. Choose the safe mode and then use the removal. Once you’re done with that, restart your computer and click F8 but this time choose normal mode.

– This post assumes that you are running Windows XP or higher.
– You can restore previous (good) system settings using the System Restore tool. Reboot in Safe Mode if necessary (see 5/12 post by Luciana). This is how I got rid of the “System Security” software.
– Here’s the path to System Security: PROGRAMS -> ACCESSORIES -> SYSTEM TOOLS –> SYSTEM RESTORE
– I also deleted all my temporary Internet files and cookies. Also, make sure that your Firewall option is enabled. My Firewall was disabled and I think that is part of the reason my computer became infected with this junk.
– Personally, I would be very leary in trusting a “System Security” website or link in helping me uninstall software that they create and perpetrate.

ok i finally got rid of it but not how this site has told me to cause all my programs were blocked… in the actual system security application go to support and in the faqs it says how to uninstall program and you copy and paste the link and run the program that it tells u to and just like that it is gone… and then i followed steps this page told me to make sure i do not get it back hope it works for everyone else

Into my 13th hour of trying all the above recommendations. Ran Norton twice and removed intrusions. Cannot download anything or read any disks as this is blocked , cannot find the system security program on my computer and ran spybot twice, both times finding many intrusions in my registry and removing, while in safemode. After reboot still being taken over by system security website. I tried manual removal but that is also blocked. What else!!!!!?
Luciana Reply:

Have you tried going through the manual removal in a safe mode? I must say that antivirus alone is not enough for keeping a computer protected. A reputable antispyware is also a necessity. Since SpyBot wasn’t very helpful, I recommend Spyware Doctor.

Well, next day I am ready to surrender my computer to a geek squad. I did download the spyware doctor from the link provided, paid for the removal. I ran it twice in safe mode, however when rebooting, system security still took over my computer. I cannot run it in regular mode and I can’t access any of my programs needed to block or destroy it. I tried manual removal, but the first step wouldn’t work either. I tried blocking “system security”, but it wouldn’t save it when I closed the box. Does the internet have to be on for it to access the computer once it’s inside? I haven’t tried disconnecting my internet.
Luciana Reply:

Is your Spyware Doctor updated? Disconnecting the internet connection is not really necessary. Blocking System Security websites is not the main step of the removal; i strongly recommend deleting the files manually.

i laugh at all of you poster saying… run malbytes, or scan this or that. THIS PROGRAM WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO RUN ANY VIRUS REMOVAL PROGRAM…. CAN NOT RESTORE YOUR SYSTEM….YOU CAN NOT DO ANYTHING. REGISTRY IS DISABLED AND I HAVE REMOVED MOST OF THE FILES AND DISABLED AT STARTUP STILL NOTHING… this thing sucks worst of all in SAFE MODE you can not launch ANY virus program . So what now? it is almost impossible to do anything. this sux im smashing this comp. really i am….

Hey, you guys, if your computer isn’t letting you run any antivirus programs or any applications like Notepad and Task Manager, here’s what you can do. It worked for me:
1. Go to Safe Mode when booting up your computer
2. Go to Help and Support, then do a System Restore to a date before you got infected with the virus.
Then your PC will restart and you should have your old settings back, and the virus is gone!

I have searched all over the internet to remove that virus, i think its known as Security System 200x
x = whatever year.
i got the following on my PC
92790586.exe
12780594.exe
When i click on the little pop up for kicks i get the following pop ups.
Trojan:WIN32/WINWEBSEC
Set WindowPOS Fail
Error Code 1406
i also searched other sites and ive found out that the exe file is different on every site.
10892964.exe
16026564.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\”92790586″
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\”12780594″
This was found on a Windows Vista, i would try to remove them or delete them but im too chicken to find out if those will mess up the whole OS. that is the reason im posting here, If i can get some people out there to identify this little bastard as a virus then i would kill the thing, just let me know. or i could experiment it myself but i need some words of advise.
Thank you

First of all, block the malicious websites using your HOSTS file. The list of the websites is given on the manual removal tutorial and the explanation how to block them is given right here. The next step is stopping malicious processes, in this case those are 1632575944.exe and 1975936162.exe. If you have problems killing the processes, use the tutorial given next to “Stop and remove System Security processes” section: Read more how to kill System Security processes. Simply follow all the removal steps carefully.

Hey.. I tried the manually taking this crap off the computer. I did the blocking of sites, and then ALL THE OTHER STEPS, I couldn’t find them. I went to the task manager, the regedit thing on the “Run…” program. I DID ALL OF THIS ON SAFE MODE. I tried downloading the Spyware doctor and it wont let me open it in normal mode so I try openning it in SAFE mode and then it says the database needs to update or something and I click Update or what ever it says there, and it says UPDATE FAIL so I CANT RUN THE STUPID SCAN! I’m not able to open any applications because it says that stupid bubble thing that its infected or whatever…. I’m going to try to system restore right now, can someone help me get this piece of crap off my computer??? Now when I try the system restore, it wont work. I can click the Next button all I want but it wont go Next… I tried Avast because my friend had this problem and used Avast to scan and got it off but it doesn’t work for me. I don’t have problem anymore with this “system security”.Ah
That’s my advice.Again “bring up” Windows. All explanations on net is just problem. It takes time. But when you “bring up”

Sorry the last comment box was prematurly submitted…as I was saying…I recently got this virus, it seemed like it was some type of remote access used to infect my computer. I did have a browser window open, however I was not actively using the internet at the time. All of the sudden a black DOS like screen popped up on my desktop…my destop background went blue and a warning was posted along with binary code in the background….I immediately cold booted my computer, upon restart the Sytem Security was still in control of all of my executables and the desktop maintained the same appearance as described above…I then tried to access Control Panel to no avail as a bubble message popped up with a message about some file infection…after this I restarted my computer and tried to boot into Safe Mode…once selecting the option to boot into Safe Mode it acts as though it is going to load and then routes me back to normal mode…somehow this virus has taken over my boot up and executable files, completely hindering me from following the steps provided in this tutorial…should I remove the hard drive on the infected computer and install is as a secondary drive on a clean computer and then run spyware on it? Or is there a way to create a boot disk that will override the commands this program is running in my bootup files? The infected computer is useless as it will not allow me to connect to the net, run programs, open files or boot into safe mode…PLEASE ADVISE!!!!

Thank you Luciana, but John’s reply (#6) was the easiest. Just do a restore in safe mode. It apparently removed that fake Security System, as now I’m able to install McAfee which wouldn’t allow me to do previously.
To reiterate: go to Programs > Accessoies > Systems Tools > Systems restore in Safe Mode (F8 upon startup). Simple, be patient and persistent.

I do not know whether this is another manifestation of System Security or whether my dh for some reason actually turned the function for this computer when setting up our home network, but after 2 hours effort I am convinced I can not turn System Restore back on again. DH is currently unavailable to help out or answer questions.
But task manager shows only 12 processes running and I am hoping that you, wise and patient Luciana, will take a look and can tell me which one or ones are likely System Security. Task Manager shows:
taskmgr.exe
services.exe
cftmon.exe
explorer.exe
cychost.exe
lsass.exe
services.exe
winlogon.exe
crss.exe
smss.exe
system
system idle process
I’m real tempted by these last two, but I am afraid to disable anything without being sure what it is. Please help.

I deleted it off of Remove/Add.. And I restarted my computer and everything was fine. Is everything really fine? And when i tried blocking the websites, it saved as a notepad. Are the sites still blocked?
