Make sure you remove every malicious file installed by Spyware Protect 2009. The malware may be reinstalled by trojans and other infections. If you removed SpywareProtect but the trojans are still there, there’s no surprise you got infected again. I recommend running anti-spyware scan to erase all the infections from your pc.

These problems are not caused by SpywareProtect 2009. You most likely deleted useful registry entries. Reinstalling operating system is your best shot right now.

As with many others, I woke up, booted up my computer…got some coffee. Came back to my computer and there goes this stupid fake remover system doing it’s fake scans and popups. Through another site, I found out I should terminate the processes and delete all files containing sysguard. So I did. And then the popups stopped and I thought everything was ok. But it’s not, because my internet is still hijacked, so I couldn’t even download (or afford) the Doctor if I wanted. It will let me open firefox, but none of the webpages load (except for Yahoo which is really weird)/ Searching my registry files/WINDOWS files and task manager with any of the names mentioned above isn’t bringing up anything. AVG doesn’t bring up anything when I scan with it. Is there ANYthing else I can do before I have to reformat? I’d really like to avoid that, thanks in advance.

This is a good tutorial I deleted sysguard.exe from my windows folder and some sysguard registries, but i did delete some other registries in AVSCAN without backing them up, now when I try to run my computer normally it just freezes when it says “loading your personal settings” did I make a mistake when I deleted some of those registries?

what can I do?

(Also. it works fine in safe mode, no internet or anything though)

p.s. I also just tried to do a system restore but that doesn’t work either

Never mind, never mind! Ignore my last comment. I went back looking for the registry keys and found it. Only 1 problem, the name of 1 of the registry keys is “system tools,” however it’s data is “C:/WINDOWS/sysguard.exe.” Is this wise to delete it even though it’s actual name is different?

Hi! Um, I JUST got attacked w/ Spyware Protect 2009 today just browsing a site that I normally go to visit. For the past 20 minutes, I’ve been trying to get rid of it. I’ve tried doing it manually, blocking all those sites & in the task manger, I was only able to find spywareprotect and it got rid of it in my bottom toolbar / taskbar. However, the last 3 tasks, I wasn’t able to do because I couldn’t find it anywhere *maybe it’s under a different name?*

BUT… my PC isn’t displaying anything about SP2009 or anything, however it’s still quite slow (but then again, it may be my Internet connection that’s been acting up lately) and I downloaded the spyware removal program you guys offered, but I’m unable to open up “setup.” Even though I didn’t complete all the tasks, is it possible it’s gone??? I want to be sure, because I really feel uncomfortable w/ a trojan on my PC.

Thank you for your help! Have a couple questions about the manual process.

You said “locate and delete Spyware Protect 2009 Registry entries”. Do I delete every item that comes up under AV Scan? I deleted the ones I saw on the list in the instructions. I had 4 that were not on the list. (WINDOWSready, WINDOWSsalrtybek, WINDOWSdefault, and WINDOWSid) Left them alone.

Do I delete everything I find when I go to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun? I only found 7 items there and deleted only the sysguard.exe one.

I guess I’m not sure how to “detect and delete other Spyware Protect 2009 Files as the next step tells me to do.

Also, when I launch safe mode, it asks if I want to enter as the administrator or as the user. Does it matter which?

Thanks again for your help. Spyware Protect 2009 is a royal pain and the “fix” process is quite daunting for a computer novice like myself. I appreciate any help you can lend.

Hi, I recently got infected with the Spyware Protect 2009 program and it completely hijacked my computer. I cannot go to any sites, and every anti-malware program I used it blocked including Malwarebytes, Spyhunter, and Spybot. I haven’t tried manually deleting the files, but I will when I get home. Is there an anti-malware program I can use to delete it without getting blocked?

I found those files as well without finding any of the others. I did an ad-aware anti-spyware scan too, and apparently those files remained in my PC.

P.S.

In retrospection, the only thing I can even remotly think of that may have been the reason for getting infected would have been an “IQ test” from Youtube (or where it was advertised anyways). It wasn’t a real IQ test, it was rather a scam.

i have Symantec on my computer… it quarentined the 3 mal’s ut it didnt work. even wen i deleted them.
im DLing your tool and hoefully theyll remove thos GD anoying pop-overs. (i use firefox… i dont understand really about blocking all those websites)

This spyware protect thing infected my computer…I went on task manager and found sysguard.exe and clicked on end process. It stopped the pop up but I can’t get on the internet. THANK YOU!!!! I had to manuallly delete things myself; it had the name sysguard. Getting it out of the registry seemed the biggest help – once i did that, Mcaffee started sending me messages about trojans that it was deleting.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I’m 13, and I am on my School computer, And when I called the School’s Tech support they could do NOTHING. I reccomend going to Google and downloading a free program called Hijackthis and another called Malwarebytes AntiMalware. They don’t find SpywareProtect2009 but they help remove some of it’s procceses. I could not use the SdSetup.exe because My school Admin. Blocks all unknown programs. Apparently SdSetup.exe registers in as one of them. But I followed the Manual instructions instead, and so far, It’s working like a charm. I already had deleted the procceses on my own, but I did not know about the Sites and the WIN32 System files that were infected. Though, I am still haveing a problem…When I boot my computer up, I get an error message somewhat like this, Usually I get two of ‘em, But today I only got one. Here it is: Error loading C:\WINDOWS\System32\Yayutoto.dll Thanks for the help.

I followed your steps to the detail, but it didn’t work.

A couple of the bloggers mentioned ’sysguard’, without the ‘n’. I deleted the process, registry, and files that contained ’sysguard’ and it worked.

I’ve come across a couple of computers that have been infected with spyguard/sysguard and the like. The weird part is that someone is packing it into another really nasty virus that auto DL’s the malware back onto the machines after ( what i thought ) a full clean.

If this spyware doctor is supposed to be free, then why does it prompt me to purchase it after it detects the spyware??? If theres a free feature, they sure hid it well. They could have at least informed me in the beginning that I needed a “registered version” instead of having me run the program for an hour.

Can someone please tell me if I’m doing something wrong, or did everyone who had success make the purchase?

You also need to delete malicious registry entries and malicious files. You said you have Spyware Doctor in your previous comment. If you run Spyware Doctor in a safe mode, it will remove Spyware Protect 2009 for you.

There’s a chance that Spyware Protect 2009 blocks security tools. This happens quite often. Boot your computer in a safe mode and then run Spyware Doctor. Most of malwares are inactive in a safe mode so you should be able to run antispyware.

How to manually get rid of Spyware Protect 2009…..

These instructions worked for me, one thing I noticed was sysguardn couldn’t be found, but there was a registry entry by the name of sysguard and a file named sysguard in the windows folder.
