Sorry but his solution does not work. Everthing I try to open goes to the windows screen “open with”
When this solution is downloaded I am automatically sent to the “open with” screen?? I save the solution to drive c and when I click it I go to the “open with” screen. I think it’s time to wipe my c drive and reinstall. ???

You need to add EXE as a file type and assosiate it with Application

Easier said than done. They have gotten a lot better at building this crapware and it messaes with the whole PC. It blocks any malware program from running, then it figures out your trying to remove it by downloading new software to kill and and then changes the exe file association so that NOTHING will run. The only way I have found to kill it, is to remove the hard drive and scan it in a clean PC (as a secondary or via a USB adaptor). This is getting nasty and anoyying. All these AV companies should detect and block this, BUT DONT!!! It’s really a pain when you are trying to clean an infected PC remotley. So far, I CANT!!! I may have to send my remote site a boot disk and try and work from that. This SUCKS!!!!

H,
I agree with you.
However this virus is easy to clean remotely. Open Task manager, and start cmd.exe. Now everything you run via cmd.exe won’t use the .exe association. Also use taskman to kill all av.exe processes.
I then use the cmd window to run notepad and create a reg file to reset the .exe association. Run regedit and import it. Then clean the registry as above.
At least this Virus allows you to kill its process. There are some harder ones that set themselves up as services or even worse, fake hardware drivers, that I find a pain to remove remotely.

The whole icon thing really scared me. If you happens to you, I will give you step by step instructions on how I did it.
1. Right click on your start button.
2. Left click on “Explore”.
3. Left click “Tools”.
3. Left click on “Folder Options”.
4. Click on the “File Types” tab.
5. Hit “New”.
6. In the little box, type “Exe”.
7. Then, click advanced.
8. In the drop down box select “Application” and hit OK.
After that, everything SHOULD work just fine. It did for me. It might ask you if you want to un-associate Exe with application. Hit yes, as it you’re basically making the same type of file that was there before. I hope this works for you.
