Run a system restore to a date before you received the problem.

Does not work. It Disables any applications to run. This includes system restore.

The system restore DOES work (just had to do it myself). You reboot your computer, and while it’s starting up hold down F8 until you get to the recovery options screen and do a system restore from there

What if the computer that is infected will not let you go to F8 now that the infected program is on there? My safe modes don’t come up anymore when I hit F8, I only get select your operating system to load “Windows XP”. How can I access getting rid of AV Security Suite? I can’t go to any webpage because it says IE cannot display the webpage.

I was hit by this virus on Thursday (today is Monday). Panicked as I run my travel agency from home and rely heavily on the internet to communicate with my clients all over the world. Hooked up our old modem to see what I could do. Was going to try the manual removal of it as shown on several sites but didn’t have to. I simply started my infected computer in safe mode (by pressing F8 when starting up) and went to system restore from there. Voila, working fine! Obviously, choose a restore date BEFORE you were infected. Up and running again!!

Ditto. This was *awful*, but F8->Safe Mode->System Restore worked for me. This is pretty lucky, since the first thing most nasties do these days is delete system restore files.
I’m still not sure how I got this. I avoid Internet explorer like the plague and
I though Chrome was pretty safe. I hadn’t installed any software or even clicked “OK” recently. Anyone know what the exploit is?

Because anti-virus is not meant to deal with this kind of infections. You need antispyware tool for that.
