Well, just as I was about ask my question, my answer came as my computer powered back up. Anyhow. This the 4th time in 2 years I have had this problem with the same virus. My GF actually paid for it once before I met her. I can say this, I am learning how to track the little bastard on Task Manager… It doesn’t help though. Time to restore from a prior restore point and call it a night if this little fix doesn’t work. Pray with me:(

NEVER EVER run system restore when you are infected, it is never fixed, you must remove the malware or have someone remove it, there are things system restore does not change.

My daughter keeps getting this virus on her laptop from game sites even though she is only in user mode and I have the computer partitioned between Admin and user. The most recent version times out and shuts down the computer before windows defender and several other antispyware apps can do a full system scan to locate it.

Most of fraudulent program do not appear on the Start->Programs menu or the “Add/Remove Programs” menu. We recommend checking these locations first, because if a fraud shows up under those menus, the manual removal becomes a lot easier. If Vista Total Security 2011 is not listed on the menu of regular programs, simply move to the next step of the manual removal guidelines.
