Security Shield description
Security Shield is a new clone of SecurityTool fraud. Security Shield is a rogue program just like its predecessor.
The purpose of SecurityShield scam is tricking its victims into paying for the program by imitating actions of security tools. Security Shield reports tons of infections alerts. They are all fabricated and they all lead to purchasing a full version of the fraud. SecurityShield usually reports regular Windows files as they were compromised. Do not trust a single notification loaded by Security Shield! It is not able to function as antispyware or antivirus.
If Security Shield appears on your screen, try “registration code” 64C665BE-4DE7-423B-A6B6-BC0172B25DF2 to disable the pop-ups and then delete Security Shield as soon as possible.
Here are some examples of Security Shield pop-ups:
Security Shield Warning

How to manually remove Security Shield
To remove Security Shield spyware you must block Security Shield sites, stop and remove processes, unregister DLL files, search and delete all other Security Shield files and registry utility. Follow the Security Shield detection and removal instructions below.
The most typical software removal method is to remove Security Shield by using "Add or Remove Programs" service. However there may be hidden Security Shield files, running processes and registries in your computer, so Security Shield may recreate all other files after reboot.
Security Shield manual removal instructions

Read more how to delete Security Shield registry entries

What you need to do is run the windows in safe mode. You can do this by rebooting your computer and pressing f8 when it restarts (you may want to press f8 sevral times to be sure) Then select the “run safe mode”, and your computer should come up looking like an older version of windows (this is for windows 7). Then, select the start menu, choose all programs, accesories, and command prompt. type “regedit” into the command prompt (minus the quotation marks). Your registration should pop up. Be very careful, as deleting wrong files could hurt your computer. Select the files in the following order: “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\[random charachters]”
Delete only the random charachters. I just experienced this problem, and spent about 5 hours figuiring out how to fix it. Hopefully I can save someone that time…

You give wonderful directions! I removed Security Shield from my daughter’s computer and she is soooo grateful! Wanted to share this: My daughter’s computer is fairly new (Got it for Christmas) When I got to the end part of the folders, …\RunOnce\[random characters], there were two choices. One was short and could not be deleted. The other was long and had my daughter’s name and user folder information–that was the right one that could be deleted.
Again thanks!

Run your antispyware in a safe mode.
December 13th, 2010 at 8:01 pm
Security Shield was giving me lots of trouble too…I did try the “activation code” that was given on the page here, and it worked and I deleted SS quickly after that. Do I still need to download the tool though?

If you are sure that Security Shield is gone, you don’t need the removal tool to delete it. However, the removal tool is an antispyware so it can prevent the future problems.

Luciana Reply:

Well Security Shield is quite pesky infection so it may prevent downloads. Now, you can download the installation file on another computer and then copy the file to the infected PC using CD or a thumb drive. Once you’ve done that, I strongly recommend running a scan in safe mode.
December 14th, 2010 at 10:46 pm
I downloaded the removal tool, but the Secrurity Shield prevents me from loading it. What should i do?
Luciana Reply:

Boot your PC into safe mode and then run your antispyware tool. I also recommend first trying “Safe mode with networking” rather than the plain “Safe mode”.

Well if it doesn’t ask for the registration code, you are in a better situation than others infected with this fraud because less pop-ups means it’s easier to remove.
December 29th, 2010 at 1:17 pm
Followed instructions for manual removal. First and foremost, make sure you boot into safe mode. Registry entry is easy to find…just be careful that you only remove the one with random letters. Assuming everyone’s is different…mine was pxukspa. If you have Vista, the offending executables are in a slightly different location than cited above. Go to C:\users\\AppData\Local and look for 2 executables. One will be named the same as the registry entry….in my case it was pxukspa.exe…and the other (in my case) was pzxinhabcl.exe. Both should have identical date/time stamps which should also correspond to when this rotten little first showed up.
I have just re-booted and it seems to have done the trick. Hope I am not celebrating prematurely.
Does anyone have any insight into how they picked up this thing? I was googling something I saw on the news when it started but I had clicked on several links during that search so cannot be sure which, if any, did it.
Thanks to the site and the subsequent commenters for their assistance with this.

Good advice for Vista users. I only located one executable in C:\users\\AppData\Local but it did match the registry entry and time stamp. Solved the problem after spending several hours going though the normal routines to purge this garbage. I am very disappointed that Windows Devender, Norton AV, and a couple of system restores did not solve the issue. Time to take a serious look at anti-malware software…

Don’t blame your security tools. There is no magical tool which could prevent/delete all infections as there is not 100% guarantee. You should also remember to keep your security tool updated.

It happens because Security Shield disrupts work of regular security programs. Run the scan in a safe mode so the malware won’t stand in a way.
January 11th, 2011 at 9:07 am
OK FIGURED OUT WHAT I HAVE TO DO! First I took out my hard drive ,made it secondary to a healthy hard drive ran scans from the healthy one.
January 15th, 2011 at 6:02 pm
I just purged Security Shield using Spyware Doctor. This is a REAL anti-virus tool. It cost me $30, and the scan took a little over an hour, but it removed Security Shield automatically!! McAfee was useless.
January 25th, 2011 at 4:09 pm
This really works! I thought the program you can download may be another virus but it removed Security Shield from my computer! Thank you so much!!
January 27th, 2011 at 12:28 pm
Thank god for this website !!!!!!!!!!!
I typed in the registration code, and that done the trick!
Thankyou so much

A real nightmare. I can’t thank you enough .. It worked with the code..i was afraid that is not working because i’ve copy paste, but when i’ve wrote the code it was activated. After, in order to delete it i had first to disactivate the privacy..and now it’s gone.
I’m so happy now..and finally can go to sleep:)
Thank you once again!

thank you so much for your registry code
June 17th, 2011 at 3:20 am
I was able to put in the registration code and that worked. I am trying to delete the files per instructions but am not finding the necessary files. I went to all programs, accessories, and command prompt. I typed in the “regedit” minus the quotation marks but cannot find the correct files. I found the HKEY_CURRENT_USER but don’t see any of the other files that are supposed to follow it. I don’t want to start deleting things if I am not sure what to delete and to be honest, I don’t see how to delete. Any ideas? Thanks
June 20th, 2011 at 8:31 pm

- please note the 0 after BC is a Zero not the letter O
Thanks heaps for that info
