THANKYOU so much for your help. I spent ages stressing about this virus and trying to sort it out and panicing about my task manager having been disabled etc etc. I had to look elsewhere for the information about re-enabling the task manager but once I had done that your instructions were just what I needed. Thanks so much.

    Just my two cents

Editing in the regristry for the uninitiated or novice or even advanced computer users can cause lots of un expected grief at the end

Also Security Essentials does interupt the process of downloading the removal application.

A couple notes missing I thought to share.

Security essentials does block the user from opening the task manager. I hate these rogue spyware fake scanners. The publishers of this abosulte garbage should be shut down. Why put false panic in the air when one could use a legitimate service, application or utility to remove something that causes such grief to computer users novices to advanced.

The free utilities as well as the proprietary utilities as mentioned should be listed so that the one does not have to be limited to the lack of utilities available to remove these rogue pests.

Thanks for the tips though :) .
