You don’t have to download things to delete this malware. Use the removal guide given above the comments section.

Your removal guide does not work for this new version. Neither can i install spyware doctor to try that. My PC is almost totally crippled now with no working solution from your website.

Apparently, there is a new version in circulation. This virus will not allow you to do anything while it’s running processes in the background. I was able to launch IE and search for fixes, but the virus blocked all from running. I was able to run Malware’s free tool that found and deleted the virus, but upon reboot, it was there again. Finally, I just booted Windows in Safe Mode and was able to manually remove all the associated files and registry entries. I then ran the spyware removal tool again while in safe mode to double check for anything that I missed.

This new “reformed” version doesn’t allow you to open anything but IE. I’m trying to get rid of this bugger right now.

I don’t know much about programs and how they work but figured I could not go on anything other then security central, so I thought why not change the name of hijack this to security central and little did I know.. it worked.. and I deleted it.
And I think this is the newer version of the bug… so try that and see what happens.

What is hijack? How did you rename it so you could delete security central? Can you give a more detailed list of steps that you took to remove this virus?

Hey guys…its a 2 man process…in order to stop the process you need one person continously hitting cntrl+alt+del to open task manager and while this is going on end the task…its not easy but can be done…then once the task has ended your pc will be freed and you will be able to follow the above unnstall sequence. Good LUCK!!!

I had the same problems, wasn’t quick enough with taskmgr before Security Central closed it! just use file manager and rename the security central exe under program files\ security central, then restart and it can’t find the renamed exe so doesn’t run.
Then use one of these sites to go through the other steps of removing from the registry and file system. Wasn’t to bad in the end.

I deleted 1 or 2 letters from the file names and it worked. It didn’t run when I restarted the computer and now I am able to run a clean up. Will have to remember this in the future.
Thanks!!!!!

As soon as your computer opens open up task manager and stop the security central file before it opens. You have to be quick but as soon as you stop the function you are free to delete and run spyware as you wish

Worked for me too – renames file and then took several attempts to open task manager but it eventually stayed open. Then I ended the process which allowed me to operate my real anti virus software that was already installed but disabled due to the virus. Nasty one. Thanks for this post – saved me a lot of time.

I simply Clicked Start/Search and typed in Security Central. When the Search was done I Deleted the EXE off of SecurityCentral.EXE and Rebooted. Then I ran My Spyware detection after bootup and removed the rest of it.

I went to the internet with a separate computer to find rkill, a small program that kills malicious software processes, and brought it to my infected computer on a memory stick.
Expecting that Security Central would prevent rkill from executing, I copied and pasted rkill four times in the same directory and ran them all at once; Security Central prevented the first two, but didn’t catch the last two. The process stopped, and I was able to follow the guide on this page.
Thanks!

this security central has installed itself past my firewall router and windows defender also avg as well. you cannot open task manager or regedit and it is disguised as avg so that when you do a safemode virus check and repair the virus is still presant. the only thing you can do without filling your computer full of doctor this and doctor remove that is start again by installing windows from scratch and learn that the internet is a very dangerous place.trust nothing.i am amazed i have got this but in 14 years its the second virus i have had to destroy.

The new version of this virus does not allow you to open or install any tool that might help in removing it, however I opened windows explorer and changed ’security central.exe’ to a gif file to stop it from running on boot up and it worked. Now I can remove it with spyware.
