Used Spyware doctor to remove virus, it ran for 15 hours. Lost my Quickbooks company file. Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions to restore?

I have removed what seems to be all of the programme/virus/malware but it still has a warning on my desktop background: “YOUR SYSTEM IS INFECTED” ect. Also when I boot up I have to manually run “explorer.exe” for my desktop and task bar to appear.
Other than these problems everything seems to be operating perfectly.
Any explanation or advise would be much appreciated.

People, what part of this don’t you understand? They didn’t create the malware, they didn’t create Internet Security/Security Essentials—they’re trying to HELP YOU get rid of the malware!

As an aside, thanks for the information on getting rid of the sucker. Spyware Doctor also helped me cleaning out any other nasty bits of Security Essentials (one-in-the-same with Internet Security), I missed, so, thank you.

Look out for a few other files from this one, just lost a day of my life on it:

helper32.dll
smss32.exe
18467.exe

All should be located in your \windows\system32 directory. Once you find them, check the timestamp and search for other files on your system of a similar stamp. If you’re down in DOS, go to the windows or windows\system32 directory and type:

dir /od

This will give you a list of your files in chronological order. Any fie of the same time as any of those mentioned above is suspect, expect them to change faster than this thread.

I also bought internet security 2010 and was charged more than US$100 because I could not get out from the screen of internet security 2010. But the result was chaos. I removed internet security 2010 immediately. And I found that davinci com charged more more than US$100 in the name of good-fix com on my card. And my card company found that they used my card to deduct more than US$500. davinci com/good-fix com is a criminal group.

Disabletaskmgr delete this by right clicking when you have selected it.

IS2010 has apprently blocked my internet. Is the manual removal the only way to remove it without the interent sources? or will programs such as Spyware doctor or norton remove it?

I was able to delete IS2010.exe and 41.exe but couldn’t find winlogon86.exe and winupdate86.exe. I also wasn’t able to run task manager or cmd from the start menu. Could someone please help?

I have done everything they have said step by step but when I go to look for the things they tell me to click on they are not there I have downloaded syp doctor and the internet security 2010 has disabled it im so confused with all this if someone could please give a step by step instruction on how to do this it would be great I know that your really trying. But when you follow the step by step instructions they give you and you don’t see anything that they are talking about its really flustating. I don’t know what else to do except to buy a new tower any help would be appricated. Distressed in AZ.

Internet Security 2010 is not on the add/remove programs because it’s not a real program. It’s an infection and you need anti-spyware to remove it properly. The other way to delete this malware is the manual removal guide posted on this page right above the comments.

Boot your computer in a safe mode. You should be able to use Task Manager and anti-spyware tools.

I recently removed all componants of this dreaded spyware. But I’m using firefox and when I try to get on youtube a red page comes up that says “RESTRICTED SITE! Your system is infected. Please activate your antivirus software”. How do I avoid this?

the add/remove programs function doesn’t even list Internet Security 2010… and trying to delete it in the program files it says cannot delete: may be in use by another program. I am running a spyware scanner, hasn’t found anything yet.

I followed the steps on blocking but after I got to the part of task manager, it wouldn’t open. I tried all the ways I even downloaded an alternative task manager but I couldn’t get past the second step: Stop and remove Internet Security 2010 processes. How do I get rid of this program if I cannot acces task manager and what happens if I would delete the host file instead?

I was bombarded with Virus warnings, my screen was turned green with a black and red warning that I needed a anti-virus program ritht away before my Computer crashed. I am really upset about getting run into such a scam. This Internet Security 2010 shouldn’t be allowed on the network. Now I have to cancel the payment on my debit card. Darn!!!

Could you specify what kind of product you are talking about? If it’s Internet Security 2010 you bought, you should know that this website doesn’t distribute the program. the malware actually use winlogon86.exe to replace userinit.exe for winlogon (registry). if winlogon86 is remove, the user couldn’t log in anymore.

many way to fix it.

my way : boot computer with cd or another operating system, make a copy of userinit.exe and rename it winlogon86. then I could login then fix the registry.(there is reference on it, please google it )
