AV8 description

AV8 is just another name for Antivirus 8 fraud. The program is malicious and it spreads with help of deceptive websites and trojans.

AV 8 is not a virus remover. It is only capable of imitating system scan and infection reports but it is not able to actually check a computer or to locate viruses. AV8 is one of those annoying apps that keep loading pop-ups trying to gain a purchase. Trust none of the messages delivered by AV8! Those are fabricated.

AV8 may cause additional problems such as hijacked web browser. It may redirect its victims to fraudulent web sources.

AV8 is a Rogue Antispyware software

    Hello,

You need to delete all the files and registry entries listed on the removal guide. Deleting the exe file is not enough.

We got it removed manually. Followed all the above instructions, but still couldn’t get on internet. We use both explorer and firefox. So finally locating and delititng registry entries we saw firefox.exe file, opened it and it said “Debugger… firefox/ ie-safemode . Deleted it too and it took care of the final problem.

make sure that proxy server is not checked ( internet explorer, internet options – connections tab, lab settings button bottom of the tab is information on proxy server. if it is checked and you do not actually require a proxy server then you would not get any outside websites.

Just a note on AV8 virus.

If a window pops up that says to run AV8, it gives you the choice of clicking OK only.
Before you click anything thing, do this.

1 turn off your wireless adapter, or unplug network cable.
2 use CNTL-ALT-DEL to bring up task manager and shut AV8 down from there.

after that reconnect your network and launch your browser, DO NOT resume last session, go to Home page.

This will prevent AV8 from invading your system, however I would still recommend running a virus scan just to be sure. Hope this helps.
