    trying to remove antispyware soft but, it wont let me run regedit or anything else for that matter. any ideas other than replace the hard drive? useing old computer with win xp.

    You should be able to access regedit and other system tools in a safe mode. You should also be able to run security tools.

    Boot in safemode. (restart machine and press f8 when it starts up. Choose safe mode). Start – Run – regedit.

    Chris follow the paths exactly as it says to on this site. Some of the files appear in the right hand menu when you click on the drop down. Look thoroughly and carefully so as not to delete something you need.

    All else fails, you can go into the “document and settings”
    Change the affected acount to a .bak
    log in and copy the “favs, desktop, and my docs” over.
    Then delete the .bak

    Thanks, I followed these instructions and it seems to have worked like a charm. There were a couple of minor differences.

    * My version of the virus redirected to the website “antispyfortress.com”.
    * The program was not called “tssd.exe”, but it had tssd.exe in its name (it was actually called vuasqwatssd.exe, but I imagine the extra characters are randomly generated).
    * In addition to
    %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\…\…tssd.exe,
    I also had to remove the analogous file from C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch\
    * in the above instructions, the line breaks can be a bit unfortunate; for example, “Internet Settings” is one word.
    * In the two “Run” settings, there are multiple files listed, but only the …tssd.exe should be be deleted.

    folder?

    also since i use firefox i could not get yahoo im to work so i had to open ie up and unclick proxy sever

    open IE
    and click on tools, then on internet options and LAN Settings then unclick proxy server

    I am using Windows Vista and I am trying to delete the Host File but there is no folder call “etc? in WINDOWS\system32\drivers. Can you help?

    I’m stuck.
    I tried doing the steps but I couldn’t even do the first step. I found the HOSTS file but itt wouldn’t let me open it.

    Dealing with the HOSTS file is not the most important step in the removal. You can proceed with other steps with no worry.

    Will these instructions work if the internet is blocked, or the Task manager is blocked, both of which problems I have?? Help!!

    You can use the instructions without the internet because you can print them at some other PC. And if the Task Manager is blocked, you can access it in the safe mode.

    Found a file in my temp folder called “NAeJ”, im not super computer savvy but it seems to be the actual application that generates the tssd.exe file. Maybe someone more into computers can look into this a bit more.
