Aplore worm is also known as W32.Aplore@mm. it is quite pesky because it spreads in various ways. It can spread via AOL messenger and IRC and via MS Outlook email client.

W32.Aplore@mm usually sends an attachment named Psecure20x-cgi-install.version.6.01.bin.hx.com to all contacts it can locate. Fortunately, computers do not get infected simply by receiving the file. If a receiver opens the Psecure20x-cgi-install.version.6.01.bin.hx.com, it requires downloading a file which is actually a copy of the Aplore worm.

W32.Aplore@mm can’t do much harm. It runs on every startup and uses system resources to spread further. It slows down a computer this way.
